Blue Ridge Blue Skyline Sheep Cloud
by Catherine Twomey
Title
Blue Ridge Blue Skyline Sheep Cloud
Artist
Catherine Twomey
Medium
Painting - Oil On Canvas
Description
5" X 7" oil on linen board; painted live along Skyline Drive in the Piedmont Area of Virginia, in Shenandoah National Park. Made me feel like an angel as the warm summer breezes overcame my easel and me. I loved the patterns; the repetition of shapes and most of all, the color of these mountains. See the sheep cloud to the upper right? My eye finally found him after I thought I was done, but he's welcome to stay.

Catherine, I am from Asheville, NC but have lived in St. Louis, MO for the past 23 years. I love love love the colors and the representation of the Blue Ridge Mountains here. Can you tell me more about this painting? What is the medium and is it a specific site? I am hoping to purchase one for Christmas. Thank you!
Catherine Twomey replied:
Tanja, Thank you so much for your kind words, you made my day! I am thrilled that this painting touched your soul. I moved to Asheville about two years ago and have fallen in love with the mountains. One of my favorite places to paint is up the Blue Ridge Parkway, at Craggy Gardens. The meadow there is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places I have ever been to. This painting is in oil, and the scene is looking to the east from the meadow. I like to do several small paintings in an afternoon, then take them home to create the final artwork. The blues in the mountains are like nowhere else! I bet Asheville has changed a great deal since you lived here 23 years ago - but the mountains look much the same and the wilderness is still vast. Thanks again for reaching out, and please let me know if you have any other questions. Best Regards, Catherine
