Description
The horse's anatomy is fascinating. My latest interest is the importance of the area of the "poll" and how a correctly ridden horse differs from one that has been pulled into a frame. This painting/drawing shows the "poll" of the horse, which, when the horse is ridden correctly, is the highest point of the horse's neck/head. The bones beneath the poll (skull) are the atlas and axis, with the spinal cord running through all of these bones. This area influences much of the way the horse moves, from the head, neck, back, hind end and legs.
